 Learning Objectives:

  • Differentiate between available continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and insulin pumps used in the management of diabetes.
  • Identify patients with diabetes who would be appropriate candidates for CGMs and insulin pumps.
  • Explore how to overcome common barriers to the implementation and use of CGMs and insulin pumps.
  • Discuss how technology has evolved and benefitted the management of diabetes.
The rise in the prevalence of type 1 diabetes highlights the importance of providers continuing to stay up-to-date on diabetes treatment and technology. Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and insulin pump technology are evolving at an extraordinary rate, with new technologies becoming available each year. Healthcare providers play a pivotal role in providing patient care through appropriate patient education, device training, data analysis, and help with overcoming barriers to access. This webinar will discuss the insulin pumps and CGMs that are currently on the market, compare and contrast features of these devices, and explore how to identify and overcome common implementation barriers. This webinar will be presented from the perspective of a pharmacist living with type 1 diabetes.
