APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program

The purpose of this certificate training is to prepare pharmacists with comprehensive knowledge, skills,
and resources necessary to provide immunization services to patients across the life span.

VERY IMPORTANT!Each learner will be expected to administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections to a "Designated Partner" under the course instructors' virtual observation.  Choosing a "Designated Partner" is the responsibility of the learner. The only requirement is that the designated partner be a certified immunizer or someone who immunizes within the scope of their practice.

To obtain 20.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education (CPE) the learner must have:
• Successful completion of a self-study component equivalent to I2 non-contact hours of CPE.
• Successful completion of a VIRTUAL LIVE Webinar equivalent to 8 contact hours of CPE.

• The LIVE session will reinforce learning from the self-study program, immunization needs, legal and regulatory issues, and injection-technique training.

• The following injection supplies are required to participate in the live session. If you are unable to acquire your own supplies, NCAP will mail them to you. See the registration form for mailout instructions.
  • 1 vial Normal Saline
  •  2 syringes with 22-25 Gauge 1" or 1 1/2" needle for IM injections
  •  1 syringe with 23-25 Gauge 5/8" needle for SQ injections
  •  Sharps container
  •  gauze or cotton balls
  •  Gloves
  •  Bandages
  •  Alcohol swabs
