• Explain dosing strategies and differentiate therapeutic use for buprenorphine when used for analgesia for patients without SUDs.

Description: 

Buprenorphine is an important but underutilized tool for pain management in patients both with and without substance use disorders (SUDS). Untreated chronic pain can impact non prescribed opioid use, treatment retention, and overdose. This session reviews how buprenorphine can be used therapeutically for pain in patients with and without opioid use disorder (OUD) and outlines evidence supported strategies for using buprenorphine formulations to manage pain. Emphasis is placed on dosing approaches, formulation selection, safety considerations, and integration into multimodal pain care.
