The 2021 Legislative Session

As the 2021 legislative session draws to a close, we are happy to report that we are having one of our best legislative sessions ever. In addition to monitoring all bills for anything not conducive to the practice of pharmacy, NCAP has run 5 major pieces of legislation this session, and 3 of the 5 have been passed and signed by Governor Cooper.

Additionally, we have had a $9 million appropriation included in the House version of the budget that will allow us to reimburse pharmacies for any refrigeration equipment they bought to keep COVID vaccinations cold. And…. we believe that we have prevailed in having important language on Medicaid reimbursement included in the budget bill, as well.

We should also say that due to the involvement of our members, the NCAP staff, Board of Directors, and the NCAP lobbying team has positioned the Association even more firmly as THE VOICE for pharmacy in North Carolina; and we have made great strides in educating members of the General Assembly about our issues. Our success this session is due in large part to the support of our members.

NCAP is committed to serving as your guide along this important journey. Our advocacy web pages provide updates, talking points, and other grass-root materials for each of our bills so you can feel empowered and confident in sharing news about the progress of our legislative efforts. In the words of Henry Ford "Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success".
