Welcome to NCAP’s Point-of-Care Test & Treat Program
With influenza test-and-treat standing orders now in effect in North Carolina, pharmacists must complete an ACPE-accredited, CLIA-waived Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) trainingto assess and treat patients under this new authority.
NCAP is proud to partner with the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA)to bring this training directly to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, student pharmacists, and other pharmacy staff — helping teams expand clinical services, improve patient access, and reduce the impact of influenza in their communities.
This8-hour ACPE-accredited certificate programincludes6 hours of home study and a 2-hour live, instructor-led sessionto assess POCT proficiency and train others. It covers:
Key disease states
Physical assessment techniques
Point-of-care testing and treatment
Practical business models
This streamlined program provides the same depth of training as traditional 20-hour programs in a more cost effective, efficient, and accessible format.
Select a Live Session:Choose from available dates (max 24 participants per session). Full sessions will prompt you to select another date.
Complete Home Study:Quizzes and final exam must be completed prior to the live session. Only registrants who finish all requirements may attend.
Prepare for Live Skills Assessment:Gather supplies and a volunteer patient.
Supplies Needed:
6–10 sterile 6-inch swabs
Blood pressure monitor (manual or automatic; stethoscope required for manual cuff)
PPE (gloves, hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, etc.)
Volunteer patient (18+, willing to have throat/nasal swabbed)
If attending virtually: working webcam and microphone
